New season of the IPL unfolds, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) finds themselves grappling with familiar challenges despite a slightly altered team name. With just one win in four games, RCB's star-studded top order has yet to fully ignite, leaving considerable pressure on the lesser-known players in the lineup. Their bowling performance, in particular, has been less than stellar.
In contrast, the Rajasthan Royals have managed to secure three wins in their opening three games, despite their key players like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler not hitting top form. The potential of these players hitting their stride raises questions about just how formidable the Royals could become.
On the flip side, RCB's fortunes could swiftly change if any one of Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, or Cameron Green finds their rhythm. The early stages of IPL 2024 remind us that a strong start doesn't guarantee sustained success. Last season saw the Royals start with four wins in five games, while RCB managed just two wins in their first five matches. Yet, both teams ended the league stage with similar points and net run rates.
With plenty of matches left to play, RCB understands that a turnaround must occur sooner rather than later if they aim to salvage their campaign.
